Markets are great places for sketching people. You see such a variety of people there, some busily shopping, others just idly browsing the stalls.
And yes, you do get an awful lot of practice drawing people from behind, but the back view can be very expressive. You don’t always need a facial expression to know if someone is bored, relaxed or fascinated by some bargain on a market stall.
‘I do occasionally get people bargaining. They’ll say ‘I’ll give you so much for it.’ I don’t make a profit but that’s what markets are about.’
